MCS-18

MCS-18 is a first-in-class novel active substance, classified as a New Chemical Entity (NCE) of herbal origin.

Already completed acute and chronic toxicity studies revealed the low level toxicity of MCS-18 and the absence of any genotoxic potential.

Pharmacology studies confirmed the anti-inflammatory and pain therapeutic efficacy of MCS. Immune-pharmacology investigations with MCS revealed its potent down-regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines and stimulation of the expression of some anti-inflammatory cytokines. Recent studies disclosed the innovatory mechanism of MCS-18 which explains its high efficacy in the therapy of arthritis already confirmed by a recent Phase II clinical study in 117 patients with shoulder periarthritis.

Worth to mention is that MCS is efficacious in more reduced therapeutic doses than any currently used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which pleads for the regulatory mechanism of the novel drug and explains its very reduced level of side effects.
