DoNatur is a biopharmaceutical company located in IZB Martinsried (Germany) owning the novel class of active substances MCS isolated from medicinal plants traditionally used in the Danube region.

DoNatur is focused on isolation of novel drug substances from medicinal plans of already proven therapeutic efficacy.

Name and logo of the company are intended to express the profile of : "Donau-Naturprodukte".

Generally the therapeutic effect of a herbal extract is superior to the summed effects of the individual substances it contains. This is attributed to the synergism of the components but this assumption is valid only for additive properties like improved bio-availability or reduced toxicity.

Synergism alone can not account for a particular pharmacological effect of an extract if no individual component(s) with this effect were assayed in the extract. Well known example is the antidepressant effect of the St. John´s worth extract which neither correlates with its individually assayed components (e.g. hypericin, hyperforin, flavones, etc.), nor was reproduced by the synthetic mixture of the identified pure substances.

We believed instead of this "mysterious" synergism in the existence of some novel active components with up to now unknown or indefinite structure.
